The Truth About Prop 8 and Mormons
In my second video for this project I wanted to talk about the Mormon church and Proposition 8. This is a subject close to home for me, as I was raised in the Mormon church, and nearly all of my extended family members are still active members of the church.
The point of this video, is that by showing their support for Proposition 8 the Mormons encourage the idea of taking away rights from a minority group, and let’s not forget that Mormons are still a minority in this country as well. One that has fought for years to not be discriminated against. It was only a few decades ago that the Mormons were driven out of Nauvoo after a law was passed to kill all Mormon church members. Instead of supporting a Proposition that puts discrimination into the California constitution, I think we should all be working to encourage equal rights for everyone. Regardless of their sexual orientation, religious affiliations, race, gender, etc.

The real problem isn’t that they are fighting against a minority group, but against something they believe is fundamentally wrong. I don’t think we should persecute them for this, what should be done is the people against prop 8 should be educating everyone else. The real problem tho is that homosexuality is frowned upon by the majority, not out of ignorance but out of distaste and dislike for the un-natural union. This is the problem that needs to be removed. Homosexuals have made their choice and people should learn to respect that. This is the education that needs to be spread. We can disagree about the majority of things and co-exist, whether it be religion, sexuality or what to watch on tv.
I would suggest that this message is taught over _anything_.
